The Return

Returning to Rockport, my initial urge is to get everything perfect, so armed with cleaning stuffs I begin the process of getting all things in order.

porchCrazy as it might seem, I begin outside where winter weather takes a toll.  Tarps have to be removed from furniture and porches scrubbed clean.

IMG_6591That done all things have to be put in their place and pots that have stayed inside all winter are reintroduced to the sun.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThen it’s to the inside where the first thing that catches my eye is a tabletop that I can’t bear to leave bare

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAand a cabinet surface in need of a little dressing up.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAA few favorite things that make their own statement took care of that in a minute.

Maine houseMoving on to the living room, it took only a glance to suggest that it was time to change rich toned slipcovers

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAto  lighter ones more suitable for the season ahead.  That is not as easy as it sounds as it requires a lot of pulling and tugging.  On a roll now, I decided to move furniture

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAand accessories around for a new look.  Talk about an easy way to redecorate!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAIt’s amazing how such simple changes can give an entirely different energy to a room.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWith outside and inside in pretty good shape, bathing Miss Daisy was the next order of business.  She likes being clean, too!

Next up will be the yard, but that will have to wait for another day.  For now, I’m calling it a day and heading for bed!

  1. Love the way you change the appearance of your living room. How smart! But in the summer, I’d want to be on that porch! (As a side note, I have car envy for your Mini. Would love to have a convertible one!)

  2. I agree with the above comment – brilliant idea of changing the slipcovers to totally transform the room into summer. Such a beautiful home. And love the bar items!!!!

  3. You are ahead of me. Our arrival has been delayed until next week. Now that you’re all done, can you come help me?
Love the slip overs! Look forward to seeing you both.

  4. You must be the Energizer bunny to get all that done in a day! Makes me tired just reading everything you did.
Your Maine home is beautiful, Linda.
    Enjoy your summer…

  5. I can’t imagine the work involved in opening up a second home after being gone for months, and the change the light slip covers make is just stunning! I’d love to see more of those gorgeous hen? vases holding blooms- you have such an eye for the unique artistic creations…

    • Maine is harder than Houston because of maintenance requirements. Winter is hard on exteriors especially. The chicks are from my favorite shopping place here, TJ Maxx. They have holes on their backs that are filled with water and flowers.

  6. Back in time for Memorial Day weekend…everything looks great. Brings back memories of opening up our lake cottage in Maine. Have a wonderful summer. 😀

You make my day with your comments
